The work of Japanese architect Toyo Ito explores the dynamic relationship between buildings and their environments. His principal focus is on developing an architecture free of the grid system, which he believes homogenizes people and their lives. Toyo Ito: Forces of Nature documents the architect''s 2009 Kassler lecture at the Princeton University School of Architecture. Told primarily in Ito''s own voice, the book features the edited lecture transcript, as well as an interview with the architect by Julian Worrall and a new translation of Ito''s 1980 essay "The Projection of the ''Profane'' World onto the ''Sacred.''" Projects illustrated in the book include: Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive (unbuilt), Taichung Opera House, Tama Art University Library, and Kakamigahara Crematorium. Bringing together different strands of a long and fruitful career, Toyo Ito: Forces of Nature concludes with an afterword by Ito that addresses the exhibition Home for All, a response to March 2011.

Om J.F. Willumsen (1863-1958) - en af Danmarks mest grænseoverskridende og provokerende kunstnere fra f¢rste halvdel af 1900-tallet. J.F. Willumsens værker spænder over alle former for kunstnerisk produktion fra kunsthåndværk, billedkunst til arkitektur, og herudover et omfattende forfatterskab. Genstandsfeltet for bogen har primært været billedkunstneren som arkitekt. Willumsens samlede værker og kunstneriske arbejdsproces har gennem firserne til i dag været genstand for en fornyet interesse i debatten om kunstnerisk autencitet, autonomi og et nutidigt værkbegreb. Formålet med bogen er at bidrage til den aktuelle debat om arkitektfaget som kunstnerisk produktion, etisk program og med rummet som arkitekturens vigtigste medium i spændingsfeltet mellem billedkunst og arkitektur.

Charles-Édouard Jeanneret, known as Le Corbusier, had an unparalleled influence on the design, function, and construction of twentieth-century buildings, both public and residential. In addition, he was an artist and designer-an aspect of his creativity which was somewhat eclipsed by his architectural renown. Le Corbusier had originally intended to be a painter and his early studies were primarily focused on art and decoration.
