The Pritzker Prize is the most prestigious international prize for architecture. Architect presents all 33 recipients of the Pritzker Prize, and captures in pictures and in their own words the awe-inspiring achievements of each architect. Organized by architect, each chapter features approximately four to six major works that represent a range of skills, materials, and methods, as well as a variety of structures including museums, libraries, transportation hubs, hotels, places of worship, and more. WRITING ABOUT ARCHITECTURE - presents the prize-winning texts in the international competition on "writing about architecture" held by The Henning Larsen Foundation. The competition is the third in a series of architecture competitions. The first was about ôphotographing architectureö, the second about ôdrawing architectureö. Photos, drawings and texts challenge architecture. They can be a branch of art or a piece of architecture in themselves, or they can communicate an idea or a dream. The dream has been the focus of attention in this competition. The book also features a foreword by jury member Troels Troelsen and a collective jury statement. The members of the jury were Christian Bundegaard, Martin Keiding, Henning Larsen, Kent Martinussen and Troels Troelsen.

The Architectural League Prize is an annual competition, series of lectures, and exhibition organized by the Architectural League and its Young Architects and Designers Committee. This year''s theme: It''s Different. Every generation thinks it is special, new, and different and ours is no exception. What perhaps may make the claim stronger for the current generation are the circumstances: global networking and integration, and global economic and security crises; environmental activism and environmental catastrophe; virtual revolution and physical stagnation. Against these challenges and in light of the fundamental ruptures of the Great Recession, the committee posits that the future will operate on a wholly different paradigm. The committee sought projects and design approaches that provided new strategies to address existing or entrenched problems, proactive definitions of practice, and a rethinking of the design discipline in relation to new economic, political, social, and cultural paradigms.

The Architectural League Prize (formerly known as the Young Architects Forum) is an annual competition and series of lectures and exhibitions organized by the Architectural League and its Young Architects and Designers Committee. The Architectural League Prize was established to recognize specific works of high quality and to encourage the exchange of ideas among young people who might otherwise not have a forum. The competition theme, ReSource, created a basis for entrants to compose their portfolios and critically evaluate their work. This year''s committee posited that architectural practice relies on resources: disciplinary resources, such as theory and technique; physical resources, such as materials and production technologies; and practical resources, such as coordination planning, and financing.

This biennial prize is conceded by the European Union and organized by the Mies van der Rohe Foundation in Barcelona to recognize and reward the quality of the architectural production in Europe. Candidates are nominated by a diverse group of independent experts from all over Europe. In each edition, the jury awards two prizes: the European Community Prize for Contemporary Architecture, presented for conceptual, technical and con-structive qualities of a project, and the Special Mention for Emerging Architect. The Mies van der Rohe Pavilion in Barcelona incarnates the main objectives that the prize looks for: excellence and innovation in conceptual and constructive terms. The 2011 edition of the biannual publication that accompanies the prize will present the winning project and also the six finalists.

The Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) is the world''s foremost authority on tall buildings. This book is the culmination of the annual awards process in which the CTBUH recognizes outstanding tall buildings from the past year. One winner is chosen from each of four geographical regions (Americas, Asia & Australasia, Europe, and Middle East & Africa) and a further award presents the title of Best Tall Building "Worldwide" to one of the four regional winners. 100 STORIES OF DESIGN TO IMPROVE LIFE Since the first INDEX: Award took place in 2005, more than 1,500 designs have been nominated for the award. The Opera House in Oslo by SnA hetta, built to house the Norwegian National and Ballet, is the winner of the European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture - 2009 Mies van der Rohe Award. The Emerging Architect Special mention was awarded to STUDIO UP/ Lea Pelivan and Toma Plejic, for Gymnasium 46 09'' N / 16 50'' E in Koprivnica, Croatia. This publication illustrates both projects, together with the other four finalists and the 44 projects chosen by the jury, by means of plans, photographs and explanatory texts
